Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake (and affectionately as “Mr. Money”), is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer who has rapidly become one of the defining voices of modern Afrobeats.

Born on January 13, 1995 and raised in Lagos, in a modest Yoruba Muslim household, Asake credits the vibrant, bustling streets of Lagos for nurturing his musical identity. He holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where he actively participated in theatre and music, laying the foundation for his commanding stage presence.

His signature sound is a highly infectious blend of traditional Yoruba Fuji music, Afrobeats, South African Amapiano, and street-pop, delivered with vocals that effortlessly mix Yoruba, English, and Nigerian Pidgin.

Career Milestones
2020–2021: Breakthrough & Early Hits
After transitioning from dance to music, Asake gained significant traction with his 2020 viral freestyle “Lady” and the hit single “Mr. Money,” which established his moniker and introduced his vibrant sound to the mainstream Nigerian audience.

2022: YBNL Era & Unprecedented Debut
Signed by music heavyweight Olamide to YBNL Nation, Asake released the Ololade EP, followed closely by his debut studio album, Mr. Money with the Vibe. The album broke streaming records, dominated charts, and earned him the “Next Rated” Headies Award.

2023: Global Expansion & Work of Art
Asake became a global touring phenomenon. He released his sophomore album, Work of Art, won the MOBO Award for Best African Act and achieved the historic milestone of selling out both the O2 Arena in London (memorably arriving via helicopter) and the Barclays Center in New York.

2024: Lungu Boy & Grammy Nods
His third studio album, *Lungu Boy*, featured high-profile international collaborations with Travis Scott, Central Cee, and Stormzy. The project debuted on the Billboard 200 and UK charts, solidifying his global footprint, while his work earned multiple Grammy nominations.

2025–2026: Independence & M$NEY
Marking a new era of creative and financial control, Asake established his independent label, Giran Republic, officially departing YBNL. He collaborated with Wizkid on the REAL, Vol. 1 EP in early 2026 before dropping his highly anticipated fourth studio album, M$NEY, in May 2026.
